The ticket hall is still the front desk
Guests check in under the original coffered ceiling, at the counter where tickets were once sold, beneath a clock set into amber glass. The terrazzo floor and its medallion are the ones laid when the building opened.
Very little of this is reproduction. It is the reason people photograph the lobby before they get to their room, and the reason a night here is not the same as a night in a tower on Queen Street.

Built from 1928 to 1930 as Auckland's grand gateway, the former railway station was designed to make an impression. Guests now check in where tickets were once sold, beneath the original coffered ceiling and clock.

A few useful things to know
What time are check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 2 p.m. and check-out is by 10 a.m. Reception is open from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Before 11:30 p.m., go to reception to check in. For arrivals after 11:30 p.m., use the lockbox/key safe; instructions will be sent by email. Please contact reception in advance to arrange an arrival outside reception hours.
What is the cancellation and no-show policy?
Cancellation terms depend on the rate you choose. Non-refundable rates do not include the 24-hour free-cancellation policy. Please check the terms shown for your selected rate in Cloudbeds before booking.
For bookings with the standard 24-hour cancellation policy, cancel before 2 p.m. on the day before your scheduled arrival for free cancellation. Cancellations received from that deadline onwards are charged the full price of the entire booked stay. No-shows are also charged the full price of the entire booked stay.
For example, under the standard policy, if your check-in is at 2 p.m. tomorrow, you must cancel before 2 p.m. today to avoid the charge. All times are local Auckland time.
What is required for check-in and payment?
Please bring a passport or New Zealand driver licence for check-in. Depending on your booking terms, payment may be taken when you book; if it has not been taken, you can pay at the hotel. Cash, EFTPOS and most major payment cards are accepted. A 3% surcharge applies to all credit cards.
The hotel places a credit-card pre-authorisation hold of NZ$50. This is a temporary hold, rather than a payment. It should be automatically released within a week after check-out, or sooner. A release confirmation will be sent; some international credit cards may take longer. If you cannot present a valid credit card, a separate NZ$100 cash bond is required.
Room prices displayed during booking include taxes and fees. Optional services such as parking, laundry, early check-in and late check-out cost extra at the rates listed here. A cot charge may also apply.
Is parking available at the hotel?
On-site parking costs NZ$15 overnight, normally until 10 a.m. the following morning. Request parking during booking or ask reception on arrival; spaces are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. You may drive in and out. If there is no space available when you return, call the duty manager on 021444889 to arrange parking. Some parking areas have a 2.2-metre height limit, while others have no height restriction. Contact reception before arrival if you need a space for a taller vehicle. Very large or long vehicles may incur an additional charge; confirm the charge with reception. Accessible parking is not available. EV charging is not currently available; it is planned for the future.
